Smatree Flex Clamp Mount? I Didn’t Expect Much.
I didn’t expect much from the Smatree Flex Clamp Mount. I needed a GoPro for my guitar head stock and quickly found out that this wasn’t the clamp for it. Slightly aggravated, I placed it back in the box and was about to send it off for a refund. Randomly, I needed a flex clamp with a tripod thread to mount my Zoom h4n. Needing to mount it to a light stand and remembered that I had this thing sitting in a box. It worked wonderfully! We still use this every time we shoot video for that reason!
I Clamped This Mount to a Catwalk
Another instance is one in which I had to mount a GoPro onto a catwalk at a church for a time-lapse. Going against all of the warnings, I had about the speakers causing massive vibrations and shakiness an. My thought was, “what the heck, if it doesn’t work, oh well”.
Things went way better than I expected. For instance, The Smatree Mount managed to go through a four-hour Go-Pro time-lapse with ZERO movement.
Catwalks aren’t fun to be on. Especially when surrounded by a mountain of line-array speakers. To say that I was petrified to drop a GoPro on one of the 2500 people in the building. As much as I don’t mind heights, this wasn’t a fun experience.
Not Just For GoPro
You can also use this Smatree mount with your iPhone, a lightweight microphone, and a very small light! Another great factor is the build quality, the ball head doesn’t really move when it’s tightened and the rubber gooseneck is very durable yet flexible.
Mounting things like an audio recorder, iPad clamp, microphone, or anything that’s lightweight is a breeze. In contrast, don’t try to clamp a DSLR or similar camera. However, clamp can’t handle heavy gear safely.
Weird Name, Great Clamp
In conclusion, at close to $14, you can purchase these and mount them everywhere their heart desires. You will be purchasing more of these in the future!
